So many people forget that improving their Surf Body Fitness happens more easily by spending time at the beach involved in the activities you love more than visiting the gym and doing surfing workouts or indoor surf training sessions.
While it is important to have a surfers workout and improve one’s ability with specific surfing training it is vital to remember that water time is the best way to enhance your surf body fitness program while improving surf specific co-ordination, timing and understanding of the ocean.
Check out the video below – at the wedge on a big day – at minute 1.11 a surfer takes off and learns a good lesson while at minute 1.31 a surfer gets the wave of the day. Both will have improved their surf body fitness goals much more effectively than those choosing not to enter the ocean!
While surfing workouts definitely help develop a better surf body fitness agenda they need to be prioritized accordingly – in other words when there is surf take your surf training into the water with you! When there is no surf get your groove on in the gym or at home with balance boards, Swiss balls, dumb bells and your body weight – all can be used very effectively to create fantastic surfing workouts and enhance your surf body fitness so that when the waves arrive you’ve got the body to roll!
