HEY! So my Exercises Surfing and Performance blog is a continued post from last week. I had been invited over to Japan to sample their surfing and snowboarding methodologies…. so we continue the story…. I woke up two something hours later jet lagged, dazed and confused, being told very politely that the bus had arrived into Shinjuku (one of Tokyo’s central stations, a concrete jungle, no surfing or snow for miles) so could I please quietly and politely get my things and be on my way. The bus driver was dressed like an airline pilot – only better – he had on clean white gloves to match his formal bus driving suit and pilot hat….. definitely nothing close to the beach bodies I was used to hanging out with – cracked me up…only in Japan huh??
Exercises surfing and performance training had started…
So I was in Shinjuku station – the heart of Tokyo – and I took one wrong turn and hit about a million suits walking in all directions in the mass transit system at rush hour. Try doing that with snowboards, boots, and luggage: almost impossible. My exercises surfing and performance training had started. Negotiating with the locals was a little tough too – in fact many people just ran away, scared a foreign person was attempting to speak with them!?
Very strange to see confused adults struggling to understand their own language and scuttling away leaving me to stare at signs I could not read. I needed to get outta this concrete jungle and find a beach or the mountains!
The good news is that when someone has been designated to meet you or look after you in Japan, everything becomes miraculously very easy. Easy to the point you sometimes feel guilty for their generosity and courtesy.
Exercises Surfing and Performance specialists from the Manza hotel in Gunma went out of their way to ensure I was well and truly looked after.
They took me to the 1998 Winter Olympic mountain site, escorted me to the deepest fresh powder, showed me the best tracks to surf through the trees and took me to eat amazing Japanese food!

Exercises Surfing and Performance Foods – Plenty of Protein, Essential Fats, Colorful Carbs and Tastes Amazing!
When in surf training or snowboard workout mode the exercises surfing and performance code must encompass nutrition. Japan is amazing when it comes to finding clean, healthy, vibrant food to fuel your surfing workouts and beach body. Check out the picture of my breakfast!
While we may aim to score epic waves and fresh powder on our surfing journeys it is always the amazing people we meet along the way that really make all the difference and make it all worthwhile.

Plus, without a doubt you will become a better surfer or boarding athlete. I encourage you to broaden your surfing horizons, take a leap of faith and go travel the world and experience all the world has to offer. Just remember… take your boards!
